Our Tramping Care Kit

We love spending time in nature as a family and have been slowly working our way through some activities in the Outdoor Kid Guidebook. When we go walking, I’m always sure to have some products ready to help as part of our tramping care kit.

Just before COVID19 lockdown earlier this year we walked through Karangahake Gorge which was spectacular. One of our other favourites was a tramp through Yardley’s Bush on a windy day – the girls loved it!

Of course, our dog Chappie always comes too, so we make sure to go on the walks that the book shows as dog-friendly. There are heaps of photos of showing hundreds of free outdoor activities with lots of helpful information about their accessibility, difficulty-level, time, distance, and what you can expect to see.

Along with snacks and water, it’s a great idea to pack a little Tramping Care Kit to take with on our adventures, so I thought I would give you a peek inside so that you can create your own!

Me and the kids at Yardley’s Bush – great fun!

What’s Inside Our Tramping Care Kit

After my experience with melanoma, my family and I never go outside for more than a few minutes without applying sunscreen.

Shea Butter Lip Balm

Our Shea Butter Lip Balm is rich in natural ingredients, that will nourish and protect your lips from the elements. I love having peace of mind, knowing that my family isn’t putting any chemicals on their lips.

One application lasts for hours but the large 14g tin in my kit ensures that we always have enough for everyone!

Foot Balm

I like to apply Minty Foot Balm to my feet every day, but especially before a tramp. The blend of mint and essential oils help to keep my feet fresh and moisturised for hours.

Not only that… Did you know that this is probably the most useful balm you’ll ever own, particularly when you’re spending time outdoors?

  • In hot weather, apply it to delicate skin where you normally chafe, especially if you’re going to be walking for a few hours.
  • When you’re in the bush with pesky sandflies or mosquitoes, rub gently on bites to soothe and prevent itching.
  • It’s our family’s go-to healing balm for any inevitable cuts or scratches.

Pamper Yourself After Your Adventure

After hours of walking in nature, I love to pamper my weary body a little!

In summer I will have a refreshing shower and exfoliate my skin with Coffee Body Scrub and then lather my skin with Body Lotion.

In cooler weather, I love a long soak in a bath infused with Bath Salts. I lay back and breathe in the relaxing fragrance of the essential oils as they soothe my aching muscles. Then, I deeply nourish my skin with Body Butter.

If it has been a long hike, I might soak my tired feet in warm water and Minty Foot Scrub followed by a massage with Minty Foot Balm to keep my feet soft (preferably with someone else doing the massage!).

The Perfect Gift

If you or someone you know loves going on adventures in nature, a Little Olive Tree Tramping Care Kit will make the experience so much more enjoyable. These products together make a great gift, together with an Outdoor Kid Guidebook.

Outdoor Kid guides are a great way to find family adventures!
